What is OYAP?

Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Programs (OYAP) offers students the opportunity to a take Co-op placement in a registered trade.  Some students in Accelerated OYAP programs may attend a College Level 1 Apprenticeship program at a local College or training centre as part of their Co-op placement.   In this instance, students will also earn apprenticeship credits in addition to Co-op credits.

To be eligible for participation in OYAP, students must:

  • Have successfully completed a minimum of 14 credits toward their OSSD;
  • Be at least 15 years of age; and,
  • Be enrolled full-time or part-time in a secondary school at a DSB
