Dual Credit Courses

Dual Credit courses provide senior secondary students with the opportunity to earn both college and high school credits at the same time. College credits earned may be applied to a college program after high school. Students can choose from a range of courses available across all GTA colleges. Dual Credit courses help students stay engaged while they are in high school while giving them a taste of college life. The program is aimed at students who are behind in their credit accumulation and are interested in College or apprenticeship programs after completing secondary school.

School Within a College (SWAC)

School Within a College (SWAC) programs are aimed at students who are behind in their high school credit accumulation. They offer students the opportunity to finish high school while based at a College campus, taking a combination of dual credits taught by College professors and high school credits taught by a high school teacher.

Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Programs (OYAP)

Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Programs (OYAP) offer students the opportunity to take a Co-op placement in a registered trade. Some students in Accelerated OYAP programs may attend a College Level 1 Apprenticeship program at a local College or training centre as part of their Co-op placement. In this instance, students will also earn dual credits in addition to Co-op credits.

Adult Dual Credit

The Adult Dual Credit program offers students aged 21 and over the opportunity to take dual credit courses while enrolled at an Adult Learning Centre and working toward their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Students taking Adult Dual Credit courses earn both a college credit and a high school credit for each dual credit course taken. For more information about Adult Dual Credits, please contact your school board.
